Do you want to make something real
or are you just looking for a way to feel
closer
to someone
other than your mom?"

The clothes come off

the day is done.

I am half sick of shadows,
half mad with the vanity
of us.

And though I preen and prance
in the spotlight,
eating up your lust,
don't think that I failed to notice
that my mind hardly matches my looks.
So before you shoot off that message,
before you think to ask me for my time,

stop.
