My name is Mari Stewart. I am an artist in every sense of the word. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit Michigan. I use all mediums to convey my message; oil on canvas, acrylic, pastel, charcoal, multimedia, etc. Anything and everything!

Photography is another of my passions. I took all the photos at Harpos Concert Theatre in Detroit for 5 years. I have been shooting models for over ten years now and I absolutely love it! Believe it or not, I modeled when I was in my teens so I understand how they feel and what they go through so I definitely have insight. I also like to create a look, a set design (I have a bevy of props to choose from!). You not only have to be a good photographer, but the set, the mood, and feel of the photo has to be there. I feel I convey that creatively and effortlessly.

I am currently the Assistant Project Manager and Assistant Director of a horror film, being filmed in the Detroit area. This film should be completed by the end of the year and will be out in theaters next Halloween time!

I was filmed in 8 scenes (supporting actor, filmed September 2012, and February 2013) for the film called The Society by Mantis and Moon. This film has already been shot in Bogota Colombia and now in Sylvania Ohio.

I just shot the cover of a novel called “Married but Looking” a debut story collection by author Dan Libman. Special thanks to Jillian for modeling for me! The book was debuted in December 2011! I also shot a portrait photo for another author for her book.

I just finished as a Unit Stills Photographer on the set of Search For Lost Love (2011). I was also Assistant Director and an extra in the film. We just submitted the film several film festivals around the country.

I am a supporting actor in the feature length film called “One Nation Under God”. My filming was in March 2011 and I am cast as a Psychologist and have 4 scenes. This film is using many of my art pieces! Filming should be wrapping up in August, so keep your eyes open for this wonderful movie in 2012.

I just finished working on a reality TV show! It is called Vegas:Interrupted and will be on True TV sometime in the Spring.

I was recently an extra in the HBO: HUNG show that was aired on July 11th! (Series 2, Episode 2, Tucson) Hint: Look for me in the last 10 minutes at the gym (I'm a protester)!

I was recently an extra in the Michigan made movie “Oblivion: Written and Directed by Heather Robinson, this film takes the viewers on a journey through the mind of a serial killer with a very odd case of amnesia. It's a very new, very original idea with a cast to match. Premier date was at the Emagine, Canton MI on July 15, 2010.

I was recently involved in the Michigan made music video for The Wannabes, a Disney ‘tween television show created by writer/producer Doreen Spicer (Disney Channel’s hit movie, Jump In! and The Proud Family) and directed by Eric Dean Seaton (Suite Life of Zack and Cody, That’s So Raven, Cory in The House and Sonny With A Chance). The Wannabes starring Savvy (www.thewannabes.TV/) it has made its international debut Spring 2010. You can see me at the end of the video!

I was selected out of hundreds to be in the Art Department for the “All Michigan” made film called Annabelle & Bear. I was not only in the Art Department but I was also the Art Curator of all the art in the film. Some of my paintings are in the film! Being an extra was a great experience. The Sneak Preview Screening Gala at the Music Hall, Detroit on February 20th 2010 was sold out and fab! Another showing was on April 17th also at the Music Hall. It was sold out in Chicago and in Saugatuck MI and is traveling to all the film festivals around the US. The photo of Laura New as a “Porcelain Doll” was recently in a College For Creative Studies Alumni exhibit. The exhibit was located in the front window of the Garfield Building (4600 Woodward Ave Detroit, MI 48201), right next to the Museum of Contemporary Art.
