Modeling is a craft, it takes time and alot of effort to create a finished product that is beautiful. In the past I modeled because I loved the concepts, wanted to create art, and was helpful to friends. It ended up a career I didn't expect.
I think because this was not something I ever took very seriously because it was a labor of love, I always worked with compatible photographers. Now that I am in a new place, and have decided to be a little more choosy with what I do, who I work with, etc. I am put in that awkward position of having to look back on experiences, and to choose differently.
I want to be a better model, and to do so, I put the work in. Before a shoot I work with the photographer, MUA, and hair stylist, and if available wardrober to coordinate a shoot. I love to put in the time to create a concept, and to have the time to find the right set/costume. I am interested in creating concepts, and with a team, and not working on the fly. If there is a team and a budget, it should be shared by the team.
Even though I never took this craft to be a career, rather quickly I was established as a model. I was blessed to work with photographers who I was comfortable with, and who was professional enough to receive commercial work.
Being in a new place, I've been expanding my portfolio, so TF is ok for that purpose, but so far I've agreed to many of these shoots, only to be stood up, or passed all of the costs of the shoot, and only a few images. This isn't fair to the level of work I have achieved nor to those who typically pay for my services for another photographer to contact me and ask me to provide it all, and not to even speak to me about concept, props, wardrobe, and to have hair and makeup figured out.
I am a makeup artist as well as a model, and have retouched, creative directed and styled shoots, and shot as well. I love to create beautiful emotions and ideas, and am a very diverse model. The connection to the photographer is key to me, and I love working with people who have a vision and are excited to make it happen cooperatively. I also understand that the photographer has the image, it's his or her eye, so I embrace that. I practice poses and anything I can do to be better, but since I have done quite a bit of agency work...i think it's clear, I am not a super model, but I am an experienced model, and if I trade with you, it should be something print ready.
I enjoy working on a variety of sets. My favorite shoots are pinup or rockabilly, edgy, indie, alternative, fashion forward, or avant grade. I have embraced Burlesque into my life, www.facebook.com/BettyHarlowe,
and I enjoy shoots that embrace that fun. The 40's and 50's were a beautiful time to me. I love to recreate it, and bring it an edge. I'm a culture reviewer, www.facebook.com/RovingStreetsBlog
and I want to embrace all of these into art.
I am looking for paid commercials, voice over work, print work, promotional work, and runway shows. I will travel anywhere as long as travel and accomodations are provided for.
My rates are reasonable, and I am very excited to work with you to create something beautiful.
