First and foremost...THANKS for clicking on my page. I'm a lot of things, I'm an actor, a model, a writer, a recording artist, and most of all a performer. Whether in front an audience, a camera, or a film crew I love giving it my all and stepping into different worlds for the moment. A native of the DMV area and currently residing in Southeast DC, Xander is undoubtedly one of the most dynamic Spoken Word Artists on the come up. This former National Poetry Slam competitor (2001) has been tirelessly reporting to audiences from the stage stories of love, hurt, pain, happiness, loneliness, and all emotions in between and is now hard at work on his first studio debut, tentatively titled The Heart&Mind of a Gemini. On The Heart&Mind of a Gemini Xander fully utilizes his unique blend of Hip Hop, substance, poetic prowess, and creative freedom to introduce himself to the world as not just a Spoken Word Artist, but an artist and performer. His abilities to transcend cultural and generational boundaries has made Xander a sought after talent. Xander focuses a majority of his efforts in writing, performing, and volunteer work towards the youth because, as he says, “…the youth is lost right now in the media…in society. Hip Hop which once nourished freedom of thought and creativity has now abandoned its listener and left us with complex beats and flashy music videos…” Xander as well as his entire team at NVYD Entertainment (NVYD1 being his first stage name) has been dedicated to filling the void of substance in a genre of music that once raised him. When not on stage, Xander volunteers at College Park Community Center teaching creative writing workshops which concentrate on the connection between classic literature/literacy and modern day Hip Hop, Rap, and Poetry as well as techniques on performing original works of literature. Xanders revolution may not be televised, but his effortless fight against illiteracy and the misrepresentation of his community will fulfill his dream of making a positive impact on the world.
