I'm a freelance photographer in the industry within in Trinidad and Tobago and our region, I have been able to achieve a level of work that comes with persistence and consistency and have gained so much from such a wonderful art form and to me that means freedom; the freedom to work with whom I want; the freedom to express my thoughts and myself as a person and a lover of the craft through its applications. I want to delight the folks I work with and that's the main reason I'm doing this.
I think that photography has changed in one significant way since film was replaced by digital and digital advanced to the point it's at now. "In the old days" it took a lot of skill to coax a really good photograph out of a typical camera. The result usually was a ‘snapshot’ which is good for the everyday and for our memories but there are times we need to explore fantasy and be lost in the mind’s eye.
I want to provide this just like every photographer does. This is our passion, to express our need to be understood and satisfy the desires of the not yet conceived.
Photography has given me the chance to express my life, my triumphs and losses, my creativity and desires to be better in a whole new way and I begun within me a transformation and a journey that I believe shows much promise.
My belief is photography can add value by transforming the ordinary into extraordinary. To rise above the snapshot and capture the senses! Photography has evolved so much over the decades and has allowed the viewer to escape for that brief moment into a world that knows no limits and stretches beyond the imagination.
Photographers should always seek to transcend the ordinary, when we do; the artwork delights the eye and touches the heart and soul….I continue to strive to achieve this and always improve on my craft.
