Fashion Graphic designer Minouche “Mimi” Pericles has always been a fashionista since the early age of 9. She hand sewed clothes for her dolls as a child but her artistic views and keen eye for creativity were influenced by her Haitian background and also having been raised in a Christian home in combination with growing up in Ft. Lauderdale, have made her to who she is today. By the age of twelve Mimi realized that she wanted to be a fashion designer. Her first fashion show was in middle school during Career Day. She created a tie-die line with her fellow friends and put on a show for her teacher as a project. After graduating High school, Mimi obtained a Bachelors degree in Fashion Design from the Miami International University of Art & Design. While attending AIMIU, Mimi made it her mission to be a part of every fashion show and fashion week that took place in Miami. Working backstage at many major fashion shows such as Mercedes Benz Fashion Week (held both in Miami and New York) and Victoria Secret's Fashion Show. This experience helped to open many doors for her in the business. As a fashion show producer for Funkshion Fashion Week, Cystic Fibrosis Annual Art Ball Fashion Show, Reebox and Express, Mimi quickly realized that she had to branch off and create her own brand. She then went back to school and received an Associate’s Degree in Graphic Design from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. While in school she was inspired to create a line and her inspiration was the country Trinidad! Desiring to enter a fashion competition in the Caribbean Island of Trinidad and Tobago, Mimi created a swim line called Beware. After winning two awards, she decided to move forward with the swimwear line by the spring of 2010. This was the birth of Beware Swim. With the help of her partner Hernando Lozada (know as Mr. Deville). Beware Swim took off farther than expected. The duo went on winning KGModels First Annual Swim Competition, contributing to various magazine spreads and working with Don King Ring girls along with various celebrities. Beware Swimwear is a brand that’s on the high rise. Expanding into an accessory line called Skraps where she uses recycled materials from her fabric and Beware Nation Apparel. Mimi is taking the industry by storm with her unique designs and culture inspired creations.
