"I don’t like standard beauty - there is no beauty without strangeness."
-- Karl Lagerfeld
I typically work from DC to parts of MD. I get to NYC every once in a while. I'm located in northern Baltimore County.
I'm poor at taking hints. Sending me a message works best. If you are interested in working with me, it never hurts to ask. Just know I'm more interested in art than in pretty and that my available time in a given month can be quite limited. Also, at least speak a howdy before you send a friend request.
I only work with people who are serious about their craft, easy to get along with and show up on time. I treat models as people, not objects. People who flake do not get a second chance.
*** Note: Models may not edit my work directly or have someone else do it unless we agree to this in advance of the photo session. ***
I work with models to create artistic work. My primary interest is fine art and editorial portraiture. I am not photographing what is on the surface. I'm far more interested in how expressive a model can be than in their appearance.
Although it should be obvious from my body of work, I'll state it just to be clear: I don't do glamour, lingerie, pin-up, goth or anything with guns, knives or blood.
Sometimes I work trade arrangements with models. I use a handful of photos that fall into my art categories while the model can use the rest, often in catalog or editorial styles, for their portfolio, book or to give to modeling agencies the model works with.
I retouch very little these days, if at all. I'm after mood, not perfection.
I leave a lot to happenstance.
It is usually just the model and I at my sessions -- no MUAs, no stylists. Escorts are welcome, provided they do not impede the creative process.
