Hello,

I have had the privilege of shooting with many great photographers over the years to help establish my portfolio.  On the flip side of things, I have also dealt with a few photographers that could possibly give other photographers a bad name, (especially in California) when compared to industry standards.  Photographers, I have noticed - seem to go out of their way to voice their opinions of models, before-during-and after their photo shoot, which is fine; however I would like to be the voice of many models out there who have similar views about some (NOT ALL) photographers who feel as though they can disrespect models and not be held accountable.

When I have to endure all the pain and frustration of dieting down for a shoot, schedule a session with a photographer, workout extra hard in the gym, extra cardio, tan, buy clothes for the shoot, bear the additional travel and hotel expenses, etc - there are certain expectations from a model’s perspective that should be fulfilled.  These expectations are very reasonable and I know I am not alone in this category.  Do you think that getting pictures back from the photographer, in a reasonable amount of time, that are a good representation of me – as a model – is too much to ask for?  If a model shows up late and or doesn't look like their pics, the photographer is livid - I have heard the story over and over again.

However, I feel as though it is necessary to let fellow models out there know that there are a few photographers that are not in compliance with "the rules" and have made my experience as a model a bit more frustrating.  The following photographers I have had the least pleasure of working with for the reasons aforementioned.

Mark Jenkins – San Francisco – shot with him over 2 years ago and have yet to see one image.

Jeff Palmer – Palm Springs – flew down from Houston to do a shoot with him over 2 years ago and have yet to see one image.  He stated after the shoot that if the model didn’t shoot nudes with him, then there would be no pictures.  Very unprofessional.

James Franklin – L.A. – flew down from Houston to do a 2 hour shoot with him and received only 4 pictures.

Marc Littlejohn - L.A. - Misrepresented himself as a photographer even though he was/is actually a 'wardrobe stylist.' I could tell immediately during the photo shoot that he had no clue as to what he was doing; leaving the lens cap on most the shoot was a slight clue. He loved to put clothes on me and spend lots of time adjusting the zipper area, very classy. Loved to eat in front of me during the shoot, even though I was starving, and topped it off with a little pot smoking at the end. The few pics I got were RIDICULOUS. Don't waste your time.

Hopefully there will be no more names to add to the list but you never know.  Maybe I should get the photographer to sign a release in the future, (as I am required to sign one as a model) which may help to remedy this problem?
