FRIEND REQUESTS:
I am beginning to receive an abnormally large amount of "Friend Requests." As a future "friend," if you would like to make me happy, please visit my portfolio and leave a comment on your favorite image.
If you have received a "Friend Request" I am interested in working with you. I review each portfolio prior to submitting, or responding to, a "Friend Request."
PICTURES:
I am a freelance photographer who likes to shoot models using the natural beauty of nature as the background. Because I do not have a studio and travel to sites, I strongly encourage the use of escorts. If necessary, I will schedule three months in advance. I have found that the sequence involved in scheduling the photo shoot, collaboration, and the finalization of details, tends to be a time consuming process.
Minors (under the age of 18) will always need to have parental involvement to work with me. For the safety of all underage models, I will need to receive approval from their parent or guardian prior to any photo shoot. All photography, involving a minor, will be conservative in it's scope. I have passed an extensive FBI background investigation and have been approved to work projects within a local school district. The avatar for this portfolio is an example. The image has not been retouched. The photograph was taken at a high school authorized ROTC military formal ball.
I am open to to most ideas, excluding sacrilegious and sexually explicit images. Based on the nature of the photo shoot, I may rent a local studio for the duration of the session. I enjoy listening to each model regarding the emotion that they want to display in their images.
Unless noted otherwise, I have conducted any retouch and/or edit of the images contained in this portfolio. There have been no other manipulations of the photographs.
EXPENSE and PAYMENT:
Currently I work TFP/CD. I will pay travel expenses (within reason) for the models I contact for location shoots. All of my photographs are natural and can be easily edited by any photo shop software. Currently, I retouch any image that the models request to be displayed in a portfolio.
At this time, the purpose of all the images I use are intended for display in my personal portfolio. The model will receive a letter indicating that he/she is permitted to reproduce, edit, manipulate, and/or sell the images.
For the benefit of the models that I work with, all photo shoots I conduct will be retouched prior to the uploading into my portfolio. I will maintain all photo shoots in a "raw" or untouched state on the Photo Bucket web-site.
I would also like to assist models who are trying to build their own portfolios. Currently I use digital as my primary media type. I use three lenses and can capture both headshots and/or portraits and full standing images. While on a photo shoot I bring film cameras in reserve. If film is needed, my choice is consistent with the setting of natural light. Currently I use 160, 200, 400 and 800 35mm film. I will occasionally use Professional 35mm Black and White film. Each shoot will be at a predetermined location and will consist of 100-300 photographs. The majority of my photo shoots last two hours in duration. However based on the location, nature and the model's time constraints the photo shoot may last 1/2 of an hour to five hours. Most of my sessions are available for viewing by 10:00 p.m. the same evening on the Photo Bucket web-site.
Occasionally, I will be willing to pay a reasonable rate to an experienced model, (with a strong portfolio). I will contact them directly.
LOCATIONS:
I visit and explore new shooting locations on a consistent basis. On separate occasions, models Sarra Hansen and Breana Gabriel accompanied me on photo shoots to the Maritime Museum located in the San Diego Bay. I have used Torrey Pines State Park, located in La Jolla, CA, several times for background. Model Princess Tierra used rock formations on Route 66 in Apple Valley as a backdrop. Alivia Campbell was photographed at Historic Perris Lake and Park. The beaches in Santa Monica, Huntington, Newport and Oceanside have been visited, at least once, by a model and me for a photo shoot. Patrick Reid, Wyldcat, and Everett Savoy were photographed on the grounds of Cal Tech and the University of California at Northridge. Finally, although I do not list the exact location, model residences have also been used on multiple occasions as a photo site.
The WHALEY HOUSE:
I visited the Whaley House on August 4, 2010. I snapped several photographs inside the first two-story brick home in San Diego. The house was started in 1856 with the construction of a grainary. Built in the Greek Revival Style, the two-story house and general store were added in 1857. The Whaley House is listed by the United States Department of Commerce as an authentic haunted house. It appears that at least one of the Whaley family wanted to be photographed. The picture has been posted on another site. The attendant and I were discussing the life and death of Violet Whaley. After developing the film I found Thomas or George Whaley in one of the photographs. My niece immediately saw what appeared to be a woman in a Victorian dress behind him. Violet or Anna Whaley? It maybe nothing...
Star of India:
As previously mentioned, Sarra Hansen and I visited the Star of India on February 14, 2011. During the shoot four unusual things occurred. Of special interest is a "big blue specter" that appears on one role of film. Was it Sarra's clothing bag? She did have a Nordstrom clothing bag with her. According my recollection, she positioned the bag to her right out of the picture. The Star of India is known for being "haunted" by several entities. Did we capture one? I do not know.
THE MODELS:
Regarding the models, I have not worked with any that I would not work with again. All the models and MUAs listed in my portfolio have been extremely pleasant and easy to work with, including their escorts. I enjoyed working with each of them.
Based on the large number of actors and models I work with, short descriptions will be limited to recent, active and/or worthy of special mention. I credit all images. If you are interested in information regarding the actor/model please follow the link to their personal portfolio.
A special thanks to Payton Trix, Danielle McVicker, Autumn Becerra, DanniBambi, Everett Savoy, Karri Lauritzen and Wyldcat for their energy and creativity; my respect and best wishes to Alli D who is currently battling cancer; Danielle McMillian for her impressive graduation from Stanford University; to Hallie Hoefer who is attempting to reach the next selection stage for "America's Next Top Model." I hope to see Brittney M. (New Jersey), Haley White (North Carolina), and Alivia Campbell (Florida), visit California again. Breana Gabriel, at 5'2", is one of the most talented models I have seen. Finally, ALWAYS MY BEST, to all the other models and MUAs who took time out of their day to permit me the opportunity to photograph and work with them.
The couples in my portfolio are: Karri and Dutch; Wyldcat and Patrick; Candy and Ty; Dayna and Russell; Lacy and Eric; Ly and boyfriend (visiting from Estonia); and Chanel Lynn with boyfriend and Baby.
Yes, that is me "The Photographer". The picture was taken recently at the Cabrillo National Monument in Point Loma outside San Diego, California.
PERSONAL INFORMATION:
I am 57 years old and have been married for 25 years. I drink very little alcohol and I do not use illicit drugs. Please respect my feelings on this matter during the time we are together on the photo shoot. This includes your escort(s). I will not shoot nudes unless I have previously worked with the model and he and/or she requires a personal need for the photographs.
