About Me :

Jesper Justesen is a successful Danish Fashion Photographer who is base in New York. As a former "still life" photographer in Denmark, Jesper is able to use his strong technical ability and background to capture eye catching fashion images.

How did you get into Photography, where did you learn it and how long have you been a fashion photographer?

When I started doing photography back in Denmark, it was only a hobby, but it soon took off and I was in apprenticeship for 4 and a half years and got a medal from the Queen of Denmark for my work as a photographer. I have it somewhere :-)

After that I was offered a good full time job as a photographer, however something told me that there was more to learn, and New York became the city I wanted to challenge.
I started assisting some amazing photographers, and got to know the business, some might say it is a step backwards, however it has helped me a lot and moved me in the direction I wanted.
It has been some years by now.

What types of fashion assignment do you enjoy most and why?

I see a challenge in any shoot, I think that is the beauty of the industry, it is not always simple and nor should it be. I enjoy editorial shoots that lets me be creative. When I do advertising its more the challenge of the technical side. They go hand in hand, without one part the structure gets fragile.

What are the special qualities required of a fashion photographer?

Be positive and believe in yourself and of cause the ability to communicate well with the whole crew.
