I am 22 years old and currently living in Bellingham, WA. I graduated from Cinema Make Up School's Master Program in Hollywood, CA in January 2011. I was born in Mammoth Lakes, CA and moved to Pismo Beach, CA at the age of seven. I have always been into self expression and art. I got into make up when I was 12, although parents were not too happy about that. Began making my face up as much as possible. Experimenting with all kinds of textures, colors, and techniques. I've always been fascinated in transforming myself into a different person merely through make up. I've always been the one that stood out in a crowd but I like it this way. When I was younger I was always worried about not being recognized by friends and family in a crowd of people and for some reason that scared me. I feel that's where my whole obsession with make up stemmed from. At age 14 my father and I wanted to do something different for halloween, something that no one in our town had dared to go. We started researching different ways of achieving extreme costumes online and stumbled across a tutorial on mixing liquid latex with toilet paper to create all sorts of gross textures and effects on the body. After reading for hours on foam latex and what else you could do with it, my father and I drove to the halloween store and bought a bottle. That was the first year I got my hands into making my own prosthetics, I was hooked. After entering and winning the local halloween costume contest for the "bloodiest/scariest", that's all I wanted to do. After school I'd come home and just play with the few things I had. Mixed beauty make up with liquid latex, cotton balls, paper towels, little objects from around the house that would stick. It was during this time while scoping the internet for new ideas, that I researched schools to go to for this type of thing and if they even existed. I had grown up on movies such as Poltergeist, Nightmare on Elm Street, Twilight Zone, Outer Limits, Exorcist, Puppet Master, Beetle Juice, ect.. My mom had a thing for playing these movies when my brother and I were children, even though her memory tells her otherwise, but the images always stoke and fascinated me. So I figured there had to be some kind of school out there for these horror make ups. That's when I found Cinema Make Up School back in 2004. I typed in Special Effects make up schools in california and that was the first link that popped up. Ever since it was a goal of mine to attend that school. I'd tell the kids/administrators/teachers that I knew exactly what I wanted to do when I was older and knew exactly where I was going to go after HS. I've never been so certain on anything in my life and never been disappointed for a minute in my choices to become a make up artist.
