About me

ARIEL, a butoh dancer,
modeled from 2003-2010
in Seattle, LA, San Francisco.

Then her house burned down
& she moved to Philly
to do other things, slowly.

Thank you for the art
you helped to make
from a woman's only body,
endless-- still-- moving.

Dancer with focus on artistic & avant garde nudes.
Motion studies, location-based concepts, messy/real/freeform.

Wide range of posing styles and experience. I work best with minimal direction-- give me a cue and let me explore. Open to classic nudes, fashion, glamour, fetish, pseudo-trash, total trash, total experiments.

However, my inherant 'feel' is more pre-Raphaelite by way of very slow feral wolves.  My best collaborations are with artists, sickos, quiet eyes.

As for the nudity: I know what works with my own body by itself.  I'm not going to pretend it's super-exciting for me to GET NAKED-- I do it constantly.  Professional boundaries are STRICT.

Butoh is a style of dance born out of post-Hiroshima Japan.  However, butoh is neither 'dance' nor strictly Japanese.  It's the essense of expression, awareness beyond the human-- "the body that has not been robbed". Dancers typically perform near-nude, covered in clay or white paint.   I have studied and performed with various 'masters' of the form.  It's made me at home in my skin and able to treat a shoot as a performance in itself.

For TFP/CD projects-- you've probably heard from me already-- otherwise, not interested.

Hair is currently waist-length.  No tattoos or piercings, au naturale.  Scars from heart surgery as a child, but very faint and easily photoshopped if you're into revision.

Butoh training at various workshops in Japan & US.

Years of fine art modeling for schools, classes, artists, all mediums.  Quick gestures up to 4-hr single-session poses/ 3-4 week extended poses for atelier.  Art history backround, butoh, yoga, excellent balance. Quaker upbringing in which I learned how to hold still peacefully like a champ.  Non-camera artists, please be in touch.
