My mantra? Photography is simple: look through the camera and capture what you see, the way you see and experience it. My passion for photography began in high school and has never stopped growing for over twenty four years. I attended the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh where I completed degrees in both photography and sculpture and hold and Master of Fine Arts (terminal) degree in photography from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, CA. My background in sculpture influences and informs my photography. I enjoy collaboration, the sharing of knowledge and wisdom and passing on of experiences.
Several years ago I also became a college professor. I have the opportunity to teach, motivate and inspire upcoming creative professionals, sharing the knowledge and experience I have acquired over the years. Teaching has become one of my passions and I deeply cherish my students and I learn as much from them as they do from me. I have taught both on-site and online at the undergraduate and graduate levels in accredited programs. I bring over twelve years of teaching experience along with my real-world experience as a practicing professional and studio owner to my classes. I am dedicated to the growth, development and success of my students.
The majority of my work is fine art photography that I exhibit, publish and sell. Much of my fine art photography deals primarily with the female form, in an attempt to elevate and bring reverence to the image of “woman”. In my commercial work, I specialize in fashion runway, competition and editorial photography. I bring my fine art aesthetic and experiences to my commercial work with the same passion and energy to create imagery that pushes further and expresses my own unique vision.
