I was born and raised in Indonesia. I found photography late in my live and moved to NY in 2009.
Photography is the only way I know how to live. It is my breath, my passion, my strength and my soul.
Salvador Dali stated that the purpose of surrealism is "To make the abnormal look normal and the normal look abnormal." I always want to create something that brings people into dreams, an imaginary world of mystery, where there are only fantasies, fairytale, and magic. It is the out-of-the-world sensation that I want my audience to experience. I want them to play with their unconscious mind; to transform theirs real world into fantasies and to liberate their mind with unlimited imagination. Through fashion with its medium, mood, and flavor, I want to make people dreams.
Fashion is the medium; my life stream, my passion, and my love. It is also the best way to create a surreal world full of creativity, imagination; and wonder. It is art at its best in my world! Fashion never dies; it renews itself with innovation and discovery. It evolves for eternity as my dreams constantly change; they are perfect for each other.
Lighting is the mood. It is the most important technique in my work. A deep contrast between highlight and shadow will create a surreal dramatic feeling. Specular highlight gives ethereal feeling, when the shadow embraces you into the unknown.
Unique location is the flavor. It tells you the story and invites you into the fantasy. It makes you small with its greatness and overwhelming power. It radiates mysterious energy and forces you to succumb to it. It is the “Alice in wonderland” in my work!
When all of them come together, they will make you drowsy. You will be dreaming in harmony and the dream is my art.
