Jamaal D. Pittman was born and raised in the small town of Tarboro, North Carolina. He ran track, was in the band, and graduated valedictorian of his high school. He received a full scholarship to Morehouse College, where he initially majored in biology before wisely changing it to mathematics, a subject that has always come easily to him.
After graduating college, he taught eighth grade math for two years at the same middle school he attended as a student. It was a powerful experience for him to directly impact the lives of students, and interesting in that it meant that many of his former teachers were now his colleagues.
In 2006, he moved to Phoenix, Arizona, and he was immediately signed to a talent agency as an actor and model. As a model, he began booking local magazine covers, fashion shows, and print ads with companies such as PetSmart and Massage Envy. He also began working steadily as an actor on feature and student films. Simultaneously, he worked as a writer and copy editor for Pearson, one of the largest e-learning companies in the world.
One of his biggest opportunities to date has come in the form of Got 2B Real, a hit web series that parodies the lives of R&B divas. The series has generated a cult following and has even been featured in Vibe Magazine as one of the Web’s must-see shows. He also recently completed work on the indie feature Pale Trees in the role of Donovan, an autistic savant. He is currently starring in Eavesdropper, L.A.'s longest-running play, and coauthoring a men’s fashion book with accomplished stylist Brian J. Swan, which will be published in the near future.
Jamaal made the move from Phoenix, Arizona, to L.A. in December 2012. He enjoys writing, acting, hiking, and modeling, and is excited to see just how far his career will go.
