About me
I have finally more or less abandoned film, the delightfully arcane world of emulsion, grain, cross-processing and polaroids and fully embraced shooting in the digital realm. As "chiaroscuro" implies, I like strong contrast in light and shadow and tend to think in black & white even to some extent when I am shooting in colour.
I have made my career in music so photography has always been a sideline and a labour of love for me. I also shoot a lot of video.
All of my photographs are, on some level, portraiture. I am inspired by film noir and hollywood studio portraiture of the 40s and 50s, fetish, erotica, contemporary art and the amazing people I choose to create with.
