My name is David Vorland. I am a former journalist, professor, and public relations executive who took early retirement to work as a  part-time freelance photographer, writer, and consultant.  A self portrait is included on page 2 of my portfolio.

I am based in Grand Forks, N.D., but maintain a second residence in Eden Prairie, Minn., near Minneapolis. Since I don't carry the expense of a conventional store-front studio, my rates are very competitive. Check my business web site, above, if you have general needs. This Model Mayem account promotes my work in various glamour, creative, and art genres.  My style is naturalistic, putting the emphasis on the model's real life beauty, rather than on the artificiality of excessive post-processing.  I am interested in photographing women and couples of all ages, ethnicities, and life styles.

Some of my work is sensual in nature. However, I have marked ALL of my images, except for the avatar, as 18+. This portfolio is intended to be viewed only by registered members of Model Mayhem.

I sometimes do "trade" shoots at no cost to the model (TFCD), but only when the shoot contributes to my own projects as well as the model's. It never hurts to ask. Or hire me to avoid TFCD photographers who want you to pose in ways outside your comfort zone. A special reduced rate is offered to models who contact me through MM.
