Each MPR piece is fabricated by hand using sterling silver and gold fill tubing with nylon-coated steel wire as textile-like "fiber" to form the structure of the collections. Mixing metals with textile techniques, MPR experiments with classic, elementary materials like miniature bridge cabling, industrial ball chain, electrical wire, safety pins, and findings mixed with fine metals to reinterpret them to create industrial jewelry that is feminine, luxurious, and alluring. The resulting collections are lightweight, flexible, and adapt to the wearer. The pieces can be thrown on with a t-shirt or enliven an elegant dress.
Meghan Patrice Riley jewelry was founded in 2009 by designer MPR to create light and wearable sculptural jewelry. With a background in math and geometry, each piece is inspired by volumetric forms and is crafted by hand in her New York City studio.
These collections have received numerous attention and awards in the fashion and art worlds. MPR has held solo art gallery shows nationally as well as winning the prestigious Raphael Founder Prize for innovation in small metals. Additionally, she was featured in a NYC runway show through the LES Runway which resulted in a semi-finalist position for the Ecco Domani Fashion Fund.
