Mayhem # 236484
I am the art director of Bachelor Pad Magazine which is a retro-style Pin-Up Magazine reminiscent of the digest sized pin-up and humor magazines of the 1950's thru late 1960's. Every once in a while you'll find my own photography or artwork in there as well. Before that I was the art assistant on two major international magazines in the last 14 years that I prefer not to mention publically. Before (and during) that I was the creator/editor of No-Fi "Magazine", a music and entertainment mag that got a little notice in its time, which also led to doing our own online radio show: No-Fi "Radio".
I have been the co-producer of the annual Burlesque Hall Of Fame Las Vegas Pin-Up Safari since its second year in 2007. It is a great event where we take a double-decker busload of photographers and burlesque models to different "secret locations" around Las Vegas. It's always a great time for everyone and a better way of passing time in the Vegas heat than...well, just sitting around baking in the Vegas heat.
I am also the co-producer of one of the top burlesque shows in Los Angeles titled Peepshow Menagerie and through that we have created and/or produced several smaller shows like The Naked Show (& Tell), Peepshow To Go-Go (the scaled down version of our big show), as well as produced the Los Angeles chapter of [/b]Naked Girls Reading[/b]. I am also the co-host of The Burlesque Podcast, a weekly podcast about the burlesque industry. I have been lucky to interview many of the top stars in the field as well as photograph many of the people we interview from Kitten DeVille to Tempest Storm.
My influences: are all over the place. Russ Meyer, Helmut Newton, Harold Lloyd, Dan DeCarlo's pre-Archie Comics Pin-Up Art, Bill Wenzel, Art Frahm's paintings, Men's Magazines from the 50's and 60s, Mad Magazine, Sci-Fi & Horror Comics from the 50's & 60's, Old magazine and album covers, etc, etc... Basically, I am very influenced by retro style and layout, but I am open to do a lot of different types of shoots. I especially love shoots that involve humor or irony.
Stating the obvious, I'm looking for interesting people to take photos of. Guys or gals are fine. My specialty is Pin-Up Photography, but I'm open to most everything.
As I tend to be very busy, if you like my work here and would like to work with me, write me here (or on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/chrisbeyond) and let me know so we can find a date that works best for us. I tend to only do short rounds of e-mail introductions once or twice a year so it's best if you write to me.
Also feel free to inquire about any photoseries I'm working on.[/i]
