About Me

My name is Veerle Janssen, recently graduated from the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam.

During my education I gained experience in various fields. First I studied at Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti Milano in Milan, where the focus was on designing collections.

After my foreign education, I had an internship at SuperTrash, where my colleague and I were responsible for the designs of the complete denim collection named “STenim”. During this internship I took part in the complete production process of a collection.

A completely different approach to the design profession I experienced at couturier Addy van den Krommenacker. There I was his assistant in designing haute couture dresses by means of moulage. Here my knowledge of materials enlarged.

I graduated with my collection “Defiance”. My collection is about an energetic, combative and adventurous traveller. My designs are made of materials from the army and the navy like tents, sleeping bags and duffel bags. I combined these with painted vintage denims and linen.

Typical for my designs is my use of old and raw material like denim, combined with detailed accents and precise finishing.
