Advice for inspiring models. First off, think about who you are modeling for. If you are a professional model than you will most likely be working with a legitimate agency already. If you are an aspiring model and looking to build a portfolio you need to be smart. Photographers are a dime a dozen. Everyone with a camera considers themselves a professional photographer. You will need to know what their portfolio looks like, do they have a website, what will they be using your images for, and how much will you be getting paid? Here is the most important part you need to know. Nude images are not acceptable in the professional market place. If a photographer wants you to shoot nude it's because they are a pervert. Straight up, there is no other reason unless it's for educational or fine art purposes. If you have a portfolio full of sexy images and nude images you will attract pervert photographers like flies. Serious photographers won't give you or your portfolio a second glance. Be smart and don't fall for any scams. Make sure to never meet anyone alone. I don't care what they offer you. Remember that models are hired to sell products and magazines make money selling advertising space. Ask yourself this question, what are you selling in your portfolio? If you say fashion, what designer are you selling? I see way too many images of girls standing in a dirt field trying to look sexy. What are they selling? Property? LOL Seriously, modeling is about sales and marketing. A photo of a girl next to fancy car is such a joke unless Ferrari hired them to shoot with their car which is highly unlikely. Makeup on the other hand can represent art, but is the image for a cosmetic line or for a makeup artist? If you want to be a serious model, you will have to take modeling seriously.
I'm an award winning fantasy photographer, award winning costume designer/stylist, and award winning advanced re-toucher. My Fairy Court costumes won Best in Show at Comic-Con International. My award winning photography has been featured in commercials , movies and has been published internationally.
I work with a select group of models at a time as most of my projects are series. I like to work with local models. I choose my models much like a casting agent where the model has to fit the part. I am a location photographer NOT a studio photographer. Which means my models have to be adventurous. We have fun, work hard, and make AMAZING IMAGES!!!
