Gene Gimono began his career in fashion at the age of 19 when he was recruited by model scouts in Atlanta. He later teamed up with friends to start a clothing company that sold t-shirts and hats in 1997. In 2001, He left the clothing company and started a fashion show production company which trained models and produced shows that were held at the University of Georgia and the World Congress Center.
Gene introduced the first Gene Gimono collection in 2006 during a fashion design competition in Atlanta. The collection won first place in the highly acclaimed competition.
The Gene Gimono line is a collection of elegant and stylish business and semi-formal attire for women and has been sold in boutiques located at Little Five Points and in Buckhead.
The company has also provided wardrobe styling for the host of a birthday party featured in MTV’s Sweet Sixteen in 2008, has participated in Atlanta’s Rip the Runway in 2007, and provide fashion design services to a host of private clients including Miss United States of America 2010.
Gene Gimono is planning on debuting his spring 2013 collection in London on August 25th. Like his previous shows, he will represent the American designer.
