About Me

I am a photographer and painter looking to collaborate with other visual artists, models, thinkers, and adventurers who are creative, humorous, courageous and innovative. If you believe that great art has a point of view, I want to work with you.

I operate Philomusia Studios with my partner in art and life, Objector Snark (MM #2356181 and #1296019, https://www.facebook.com/ObjectorSnark.VAC). We develop concepts together, collaborating with artists and models in the philosophy of a postmodern artists’ collective. We've created hundreds of visual art pieces and installations, graphic designs, video art and costumes.

Before we work together, we will discuss all aspects of the project in advance, from the total concept and shoot location (we work indoors and out), to costumes and makeup. Got a high-concept idea for a photo shoot? Costumes you want to build or model? Let's do it. As painters, we are makeup artists as well, using airbrush and hand-application methods.

We can arrange to shoot any time of day or night to accommodate work schedules, depending on how light and location fit in with the total concept. We'll travel 100 miles or more for a truly great location. No matter the project, plan to include prep time for hair, makeup and wardrobe.

Compensation depends on the project and artists involved. I will trade CD or clothing for your time, especially to help build your portfolio, but generally I am not looking to work with persons who require monetary compensation at this time. But we're happy to supply plenty of homemade, healthy food and your imbibables of choice.

I'm eager to collaborate with visionaries to make timeless works. Let's get in touch and make it happen!

MORE ABOUT ME...

Whether through photography, painting, mixed media or installations, I frequently turn my documentary 'lens' (eye or camera) on psychologically-charged situations and subjects. I’m also fascinated by the natural world, so living in Louisiana has meant incorporating the state's lush landscapes and vibrant culture into my work. This extends also to my professional career also, as I work in the tourism and culture industries, regularly working with cultural nonprofits as an administrator, publicist, curator and grant writer.

I've been fortunate to have great mentors throughout my education, from high school in rural Indiana to university in the heart of the state’s thriving metropolis. I studied fine art, English and German at Indiana University - Bloomington and painting and art history at Herron School of Art and Design in Indianapolis. Post-college, I have continued to learn from and collaborate with various accomplished regional artists.

My photography, paintings and drawings are owned in various private collections across the United States, and I have exhibited and sold works in various group shows in Indiana and Louisiana. My work has been accepted and received awards in juried competitions. My writing about arts and culture has been featured in Professional Artist Magazine (available at Barnes & Noble Bookstores), the New Orleans Times-Picayune/NOLA.com, St. Tammany News and LouisianaNorthshore.com. I also moderate multiple arts profiles and groups on Facebook and Twitter.
