David Brinkman

* I have done most of my work in L.A. and San Diego and Palm Springs.  I get to Las Vegas once or twice a year as well.  I will be in Vegas again in November.

* Nudity plays a large part in the scope of my work and I am pretty set on working with models who are at ease in their own skin.  This is about the art, and I don't want to be restricted in what I create.

*  My website was showing full male nudes  in 1994 at a time when the web didn't have many nudes.  I paid more than $100 a month to host the images.  I see this as legitimate art and I'm dedicated to what I do.  I will not compromise.

* I am extremely philosophical about my work: I will walk away from an outstanding image rather than compromise it (which is especially true of nude work.) On more than one occasion I've had to walk away from a great image due to the inhibitions of the model - and that tends to ruin the entire session for me.

* My work is about the art - always.  I use a digital camera, but usually strive to do the primary composition in the camera - not the computer.  That said, I am currently working with various types of B&W conversion and HDR imagery.

*  I want collaboration!  Chemistry is critical.  Interaction and participation is what makes a successful shoot. Give me your ideas!  I can't be a success without you.

*  I rarely do studio work and typically use natural light.  I am always looking for new/different/unique locations; I prefer to go somewhere that you've found, because it's probably new to me.

*  I will never ask you to do anything I would not do - but I'm really, really hoping that you can do it better.  After all, that's why I am behind the camera...

*  I had a 35 mm film camera and a color dark room when everyone else was working B&W.  Now we have digital cameras and gallery-quality ink-jet printers, everyone is shooting color.... and I'm rediscovering the art of B&W.   Just contrary, I guess.

About me:  honest, good sense of humor and easy to get along with.  I know which end of the camera points outward...
