Fashion Designer E. Alexander was born in Bushwick, Brooklyn in the 80′s. He was raised there, as well as Brownsville and Bensonhurst Brooklyn. With the level of violence and drug selling taking place in the streets, it was rough growing up in those neighborhoods. However, he found inspiration in the sorrow and harsh environment around him & his family.

He’s always had a passion for fashion since childhood. But the moment he truly understood his affinity for fashion was when he first watched Audrey Hepburn in the opening scene of the movie “Breakfast At Tiffany’s”. It was his first time seeing such a beautiful work of art. “That black dress has been etched in my brain ever since & is still an integral part of what affects my imagination when I am creating new designs.” The same goes for Grace Jones, who has also had a huge impact on his passion for fashion. With her edgy, avant-garde, unapologetic approach to personal style.

“Oscar De La Renta has been a great inspiration to me because of the level and quality of elegance that is put into his clothing. Ralph Rucci as well. Because he is also a painter, he always finds fantastic ways to infuse different facets of art into fashion. However, my greatest inspiration of all time is Alexander McQueen. His designs have helped shape the current trends in fashion, and has been a complete influence in the direction that fashion is going. His work is grungy and dark. Yet it is also angelic and whimsical with a dash of opulence and elegance. I love how he marries the dichotomy of the two. I absolutely adore his work.”
E. Alexander’s work caters to every woman. There’s no “one” kind of woman. So why should fashion cater to a specific demographic? Fashion has no preference, therefore, all woman have the right to be fabulous. Every woman has the right to have an incredible selection of pieces to wear hanging in her closet. And they should also have the right to wear them.

Looking at the trend of traditional clothing lines in today’s fashion market, most of them offer variations of the same thing. There’s no individuality in the line. No variety. You can show consistency in a clothing line without losing the identity and uniqueness of each piece. E. Alexander believes that’s what his line offers. Individuality in each piece. There’s something for everyone.

Currently he diligently works out of his home studio. He now is scouting for studio space within the NYC area to facilitate the increase in business. But make no mistake he’s been able to accomplish so much in his current space.

He’s won various local fashion competitions in NYC. He’s worked within the celeb arena of the music industry as well as the local arena. He also does a lot of work in the community. He gives single mothers, women recovering from domestic violence and senior citizens free makeovers a few times a month. He feels everyone deserves to feel beautiful, even when she thinks or is told that she’s not. “Me providing a service that can help all people reach this level of self realization is my greatest accomplishment.”

The goal of E. Alexander is for anyone wearing the line to feel fearless. strong. and confident. To feel as if E. Alexander hears them, acknowledges their needs, and respects them by creating clothing that caters to their needs.

He also has a special space in his heart for plus size women. Even with the strides that have been made with plus size clothing in fashion in the past 7 years, he still feels as if they are being heavily side-swiped by the fashion world. Which makes him inclined to provide clothing that’s just as fabulous for them as he would for women of any other size.
