I'm a native of Jacksonville, Florida. I had the opportunity to live in Hawaii and San Diego for several years and fell in love with West Coast surf. I'll make it back to Hawaii within the next year or two, and will be making surf photography a major division of my overall subject matter with the intent on working for Longboard Magazine's staff at some point.
Photography is my job, not a hobby. I currently shoot freelance for the Associated Press, mostly news and sports. When I’m not doing that, I do this. Before contacting me about TFP, read my profile and casting call. If you want to hire me, you can safely skip most of the profile ;o) But you’re welcome to read it anyway.
As my MM portfolio changes to include more artistic nudes and leaves less room for other genres, I want to assert that I’m equipped to shoot whatever my client needs. I have shot major news events and human interest stories, weddings large and small, college and professional sports, minor celebrities, bands and independent musicians, and many lovely pictures of my pet rock. However, on this site I choose to display the work that I feel fits best with the interests of all you models of mayhem...the "dreaded" TFP.
Because (a) I feel that my talent and time have significant worth, (b) photography is my full-time job and only source of income, and (c) I’m confident that I'm much more than an average photographer, I don’t usually offer TFP. Your pretty face in my portfolio has lost some value as my stockpile of pretty faces has grown. This is generally not a problem, as most people have found that paying my rates is an extremely reasonable investment with excellent returns. For all of you who are
flat broke, or just have something else to spend your money on…I offer limited TFP in exchange for your participation in my current project. I am presently shooting an artistic nude collection I call
Pathways. You can find details under my casting call further down the page, and examples in my portfolio. If you are willing to participate in
Pathways, and your portfolio demonstrates that your look would work well for the project, I would like to hear from you. Hopefully no one will confuse my system as "since I get to see you nekkid I’ll take your picture for free," as this couldn't be further from reality.
To satisfy your curiosity, the ONLY reason I do not charge for artistic nude shoots, is that I am able to make prints to exhibit at art shows and sell to interested buyers. Read:
if I shoot TFP nudes with you, it is with the goal of displaying and selling them at art shows and venues of that nature. If this makes you uncomfortable, then unfortunately, you won’t work for the
Pathways project. That said, we can work within your comfort level to produce images that preserve your anonymity, and that you would be proud to display.
Side note: I do NOT sell images to online retailers or submit them to porn sites. I consider my work, which includes children’s portraiture and wedding photography, to be family-friendly. If you are not comfortable trusting me with electronic images, you shouldn’t be comfortable working with me at all. I am a professional, and I conduct myself and my business in that regard. I will never use your image in a manner that we haven’t discussed
before we start shooting.
I do realize that there are GWCs (a.k.a. old talentless bastards with photography equipment) lurking out there, so I don't blame gals for being cautious about who you shoot with. In fact I encourage caution…you should feel free to consult models that
any photographer has worked with before agreeing to a shoot. Or else you'll end up in a city park, posing on a picnic table, at high noon, wearing a hand bra (
please read sarcasm).
*Tangent - what is it with GWC's and picnic tables? Did I miss the distribution of the “How To Take The Cheesiest Picture Possible” manual? Or is it just coincidence that the population of picnic tables and parks has exploded, naturally creating this phenomenon?
Lastly, don't get offended when I don't hit on you like a GWC with a refill on his Viagra prescription, I am a professional and VERY MUCH a one-woman man. I can only handle so much crazy anyways. ;o) If it might improve your comfort level, the "gf" can usually accompany as an assistant—yours and mine—on shoots, as she has in the past. If you’re more comfortable in a one-on-one setting, that’s fine too.
