I've actually been sewing since I was six, making mini pillow cases and blankets. You know all the easy stuff. I took over my moms hobby of cross stitching after she died when I was seven. I started taking sewing classes in middle school. I caught on very quick and soon was helping the teacher with the other students in exchange for private lessons. That's were i started to veer away from the boring patterns, where there is not much creativity to be involved. My teacher help show me how to take my sketches and make it come to life. I started off making formal dresses, but more recently moved toward club wear to compromise with my boyfriend's glassblowing. Then we could sell both of our products together instead of trying to run separate businesses.
I have picked up quite a few other talents along the way. I braid up hemp (and other types of string) for accessories and some clothing. I draw geometric and abstract designs for posters and such. I'm starting to combine those talents for an even more unique item of clothing.
