I am pleased to announce that the Six Weeks with Shelby book has been updated to  reflect the photos we took over the course of our six week period. There are 634 images directly in the book, and an additional 2000 plus hi-res images shown in the different links for each chapter. Here is a sample of the book for your  benefit for peeking inside the book.

A book of travel and experiences detailing the journey between photographer, Jon B Barry and his model, Shelby. The book is journal and outlook of a six-week photographic journey between a 66 year-old photographer and an 18 year-old model as they made their way through Florida, Georgia, South and North Carolina, Alabama, and Mississippi, and ending November 25, 2010 in Louisiana.

The period covered by this book was one of my most fraughtful periods in my last 20 years. I had been experiencing a severely reduced work load and had found only frustration with my shooting of models to facilitate sales of photos to various web sites to which I had always been able to sell photos. The models were standing me up, they rarely looked like what their portfolios portrayed, not always their fault, but regardless, it definitely hurt my ability to get approvals from my clients before I would do the work.

Changing is the second episode of the series, taking up in August of 2008 and chronicles the author as he embarks on a trip to Central America. Feeling the need for a new direction, Jon starts making some changes. Looking for an edge, he books a trip with a model from Florida to meet up in Honduras and travel through Guatemala to San Ignacio in Belize. Jon had worked with Sarah in Baton Rouge when working a gig there in August and excited by the prospect of the adventure.

The overwhelming story of Utila comes down to the people who live there, the visitors who come there to dive and to be free, and the children who have some of the happiest faces Jon says he has ever seen. Each nuance of the island is brimming with stories, and it is these stories that a visitor can experience first-hand. These are magical people in a magical land, and in Jon’s opinion, these people have no peers. “They are certainly the chosen people of the world if happiness is considered something that is good. Look at the photos and see for yourselves.”

Arrested starts as Jon meets with two friends at Louie’s Cafe and is showing them some of his portfolio work – nude photos he was shooting for website clients. Little did he know at the time what trouble could arise from this innocent meeting. But right then he was arrested for committing no crime, with serious repercussions to follow.
