I am a professionally trained artist, Dip.Arts (Visual) that has gradually moved from painting and drawing into photography as my main medium in the last five years.
The play of light, shape, form and texture form the basis of my images. I am an impressionist at heart and love painterly light!
My current work is about exploration of the bridge between digital painting, traditional painting and photography.
My current art projects reflect this view and attempt to link current techniques and media, to age old concepts and imagery.
I have a home studio at Logan Village, where I can explore the range of lighting that can influence the images that I create. As we live in the country on 7 acres, I also have extensive outdoor locations and available light to experiment with. You must have own transport. There are no buses or trains. We are half way from Brisbane to Gold Coast.
I have a passion for close intimate portraits and beautifully shaped hands, and eye connection with the camera. I want my models to look through the lens to the viewer and make a personal connection. I believe these images are most powerful.
My post production work is directed at enhancing the image, but not overpowering the model or the impact of the lighting. I particularly enjoy tonality of the black and white image.
My daughter, Sarah Elizabeth and I work together where possible. She is a student photographer at QCA Griffith Uni. Her interest is in all aspects of Photography, MUA, Styling and lighting.
I only offer TFP/CD for art projects.
I am currently shooting for editorial submission. Please feel free to discuss this with me. I am happy to shoot your ideas if you are wanting to submit images.
I am interested trying new genres and experimenting. Collaboration with models is of interest to me. Contact me if you have ideas you would like to explore.
I am a busy professional in my other life, so I only ask that you do not waste my time or yours. If you want to work together then I expect you to be professional.
I commit 100% and the models I have worked with do the same. I expect credit for my work and professional courtsey from those I work with. I am always professional and above reproach.
I am skilled at teaching how to model and I bring out the best in my images. So experience is not as important as your look and willingness to learn.
