"I think if you're misunderstood then you have something really good going on." --Mondo Guerra
Denver fashion designer Mondo Guerra has big dreams. After a runner-up finish on Lifetime's "Project Runway" season eight, Mondo went on to claim victory on the debut season of "Project Runway All Stars." His innovative style and bold designs have captured the fashion world's imagination, while his work in HIV/AIDS education has helped cultivate the important conversation about the epidemic.
Mondo's exclusive eyewear collection with national optical boutique SEE hits shelves summer 2013. Inspired by 1960s TV shows and pop culture, the collection promises playful prints and eye-catching frames with a portion of sales benefiting amFAR. Mondo is also excited to offer the first designs on his personal label, Mondo Guerra later this year.
Mondo has also teamed up with Merck for "I Design," a national education campaign underscoring the importance for people living with HIV/AIDS to talk with their doctor about important goals of treatment. Mondo courageously revealed his HIV-positive status on "Project Runway" season eight after he created the challenge-winning print inspired by his own experience with the disease. The disclosure came after keeping his status a secret for ten years.
Mondo continues to advocate for HIV/AIDS awareness with appearances throughout the country. He resides in Denver where he and his team strive to grow Mondo's brand and business.
