About MeI am an illustrator and designer out of Portland, Oregon. I work with a large variety of clients with focuses as diverse as theater posters, lovecraftiana, pin-ups, and games. My work is variable, surprising, and fun. I never know what's coming next but am an expert in most every style of illustration and design. I art direct shoots with excellent photographers and use both traditional and digital painting in my work. Most recently, I was nominated for a record three Chesley Awards.
I am currently working on the 2013 follow up to the my 2012 Literary Pin-up Calendar. The calendar is for charity (Worldbuilders and Heifer International) and will be seeking models for the exciting line-up of authors.
In addition to illustration and art direction duties, I also design games, sculpt, write, teach, and play a mean game of Scrabble.
CreditsI have painted covers for Michael Swanwick, Philip Jose Farmer, Marion Zimmer Bradley, Caitlin R. Kiernan, Michael Bishop, Kim Newman, Mark Hodder, Edgar Pangborn, Jack McDevitt, Iain M. Banks, Alan Moore, HP Lovecraft, Tad Williams, and Raymond Chandler.
My film work can be found in HP Lovecraft: Fear of the Unknown, the poster for Call of Cthulhu, the covers for two boxed sets of Laurel & Hardy films from 20th Century Fox, and the Spiderman 2 Special Edition DVD. Theatre work includes world premiere posters for Stephen Sondheim, Tori Amos, Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, Stephen King, and Andre 3000.
I served as Art Director for Electronic Arts and as a concept lead for Dungeons & Dragons. My new game with Jonathan Tweet and Rob Heinsoo is called 13th Age, and my Lovecraft-inflected answer to Monopoly with collaborator Keith Baker, The Doom That Came to Atlantic City was recently funded by 350% on Kickstarter.
