Tom Bråten (1991) grew up on the eastside of Oslo. His interest for photography grew when he borrowed his mom's camera and moved away from the big city to Voss, a small town on the west-coast of Norway.
Through his haunting landscape photographs and his often dark, environmental portraits Tom challenges the preconception of beauty. Tom places his subjects in carefully chosen locations in order to provoke an emotional response from his sitter.
In his commercial work he uses his own fantasy and personal preference for the cinematic look to customize light and produce saturated colour images. Postproduction is also an important part of his work.
