About MeApril Ferguson, the Canadian born entrepreneur, is living her dream as a health and fitness enthusiast. Currently residing in Vancouver, BC, April works as a personal trainer, fitness model and lifestyle coach, inspiring many across the globe to lead a more fulfilling life. Her approach to fitness training and health is simple; she believes that it’s all about creating balance within your life.
Born on November 27, 1984, her inspiration and passion came from her parent’s philosophy to work hard for what you love and never give up. Her journey began as she was juggling a variety of sports in school and started working at the age of 14. April bought her very first condo at the early age of 19 after she graduated from high school. Being on her own, her motivation and ambition grew even more as she enrolled into SAIT to complete her Business Marketing Diploma and in 2005 Dupeo Investments Inc. was established focusing on real estate and acquisitions. Her desire and determination to help others with her company emerged as she realized that what she was offering was actually creating stability and freedom for her clients, a tangible asset. Soon after, April made her first million and was one of Calgary’s youngest and most successful entrepreneurs. Determined and more optimistic her net worth continued to grow, she continued to run her business with more drive and ambition; however, the recession hit and the sudden collapse of her business had a major impact on her health and things did a 180. A separation from her partner didn’t help her mental state and her inability to digest food properly drove April to the doors of numerous doctors and specialists that were not able to diagnose her properly. Almost after 2 years, April was still struggling with her health and finally she was diagnosed with gastreosophageal reflux disease (GERD) and was told that she would have to be on medication for the rest of her life. Coming to the realization that she would be destroying her body, and not wanting to go through any of the conventional and ‘band-aid’ ways the health system offered, April realized that it was time to make some extreme adjustments mentally and physically so she went on her own to seek out natural and healthy alternatives and relocated to Vancouver in 2010.
Finding that her own methods of health and fitness soon plateaued for her, she explored Europe for a month in hopes to find something to spark her motivation. Life long experiences and friends were made but following that trip, Mexico was where April’s life had taken a serious turn which presented a new challenge and opportunity that she had been looking for. April met a man named Mark Anthony, IFBB Pro, and she found the drive and motivation that was needed to get her to reach new heights. Soon after, he became her trainer and only after 4 months of training she listened to Mark’s guidance and belief in her and for her first competition ever, she placed 3rd at the NPC Excalibur fitness competition held in LA, California. After seeing what she had accomplished for herself, her global following grew as she was able to motivate so many people, the rest became history. April is currently training for the 2012 NPC Excalibur with the goal of earning her Pro card and placing 1st this time around.
April is the proud founder of Fit So Simple (www.fitsosimple.com); a health and wellness company that focuses on inspiring people, to not only become healthier, but to live a healthier and well balanced lifestyle. April recognizes that cookie cutter approaches to health do not account for individual differences, so by taking the time to get to know each client personally is important to her so she is able to create nutritional meal plans, do one-on-one training as well as offer natural and organic health products along with innovative, quality services designed specific to their needs. April is dedicated and motivated by her seemingly insatiable appetite for making people feel good and her love and determination as an entrepreneur allows her to focus on the love of her life, her 6 year old daughter Tia. She continues to educate herself and find simple and innovative ways that anyone can incorporate into their busy lives so they can appreciate life to its fullest and for as long as possible.
Her hopes are to achieve recognition from using the modelmayhem site to inspire and communicate that health and wellness are far and above some of the most important things needed in life.
