Update: April 2014
Due to a recent unforeseen financial obligation my shoot budget has evaporated and won't be back until at least September. Therefore I'm looking for models interested in TF shoots.
Check out my portfolio, if you want something similar for your portfolio we will make it happen. If you want me to look at your portfolio and suggest something, my creativity is not affected by a lack of funds. If you have a crazy idea you want to shoot, try me. I doubt you can come up with something to crazy for me to shoot (unless it involves endangering yourself or someone else.)
I’m a Washington state native working under my real name. I first picked up a still camera 11 years ago after having worked with video for the previous 6 years.
I will probably never change my experience level to anything other than “some experience.” No matter how much experience you have, you could always have more. And someone else out there does.
Consider this: with one click I become very experienced on Model Mayhem. There is no approval process, no background check. I just click.
But does experience really matter? I think it does, but not as much as aptitude.
People have inherent abilities. We don’t all get the same brain or body or circumstances for that matter. That means some people can run faster. Some people are funnier. Some people can sing. Some people are better looking and so on.
Experience is what everybody gets just for showing up. And some people aren’t very good at what they do even though they have tons of experience because they have no aptitude for it.
I am a self-taught in every respect and have no expensive pieces of paper with which to impress you. Degrees and certifications are the result of an assessment which is how one ranks a student. I am not nor will I pretend to be a good student, I am a learner and there is a distinction.
I have worked in a corporate environment since age 17 and consider myself to be very polite and professional and respectful in all my personal interactions. I check email constantly and respond quickly. If we are working out the details for a shoot, a prompt response is appreciated and shows professionalism.
I treat the janitor with the same respect I give to the CEO. You can’t tell who someone is based on how they appear or preconceived notions based on limited information. I keep things simple and treat everyone the same. If you don’t do the same, then I bet I eat far less spit at restaurants than you do.
I don’t take myself too seriously and frequently make fun of myself. I have been known to assume the persona of the Legendary Nigel Barker at times to lighten the mood.
Or I could just bust out a selfie like this. :-)
The sad hatter. Now that's what I call 'high concept'!
Why I’m here:
I joined Model Mayhem so I can network with other people who share the desire to collaborate and create amazing images. If you want to shoot with me, don't be shy. :-)
I'm willing to play host to traveling models in exchange for model time. Will provide safety/cleanliness references on request.
Various stuff you might want to know about me:
>I believe in paying people for their time
>I believe the images that I shoot have value(they could not easily be reproduced by just anyone with a camera)
>Models are artists, their body and emotion are their medium.
>If I send you a friend request: If you are a model it means I want to shoot with you. If you are a photographer it means I want to follow your work.
>I have a small but well equipped studio at my residence
>I will allow models to bring an escort (they may have to sit in the car, my studio is very small. Bring a laptop and I will provide an extension cord and wifi)
>I will meet you for coffee before a shoot so you can see I’m not a creep
>I won’t take pictures while you are putting makeup on and get ready before the shoot.
>I don’t have a MUA but would love to work with one
>I don’t have a Stylist but would love to work with one
>I like reliable people
>I like people that are fun to work with
>Music is a must when I shoot
>I build stuff
>I write a lot
