I did a photo book called “Girls, Guns and Ropes” for a German publisher, and I've also had my work in some of their compilation books. Sometimes I shoot for potential book projects and other times just for fun. And I don't mind collaborating with models on a shoot idea if it's something we both find interesting and beneficial. It's usually TFP for me, but I'll consider job offers if it falls within my area of interest and expertise.
“From the moment I saw the cover of Josef Botello's Girls, Guns & Ropes, I knew I was in for something different. In a world where fetish images can tweak, tug and gently nudge existing ideas about human sexuality, Botello instead opts to blow a 44-caliber hole in those notions with his provocative black and white shots of rope-clad women outfitted with heavy artillery and bedroom eyes.
It's a classic formula: beauty and the beast, enticement and peril, bondage and bad-asses. It's like a 1950s men's magazine updated for the digital era and gone lust-mad with artsy abandon. Josef Botello goes at this subject with fresh gusto, with zest and originality -- and from the first page, I ate it up with a spoon. These gorgeous dames are agents provocateur like you wouldn't believe, and I challenge you to thumb through this book without drooling.” Thomas Roche, Eros Zine

“Girls in bondage, often bound until they can no longer move, appear to most superficial viewers as weak victims. Insiders, however, know how strong you have to be to give yourself over completely into the hands of another person--it is especially the mind that has to be strong. Josef Botello makes these bound women into extremely strong women: his “victims” bound with ropes have knives or firearms in their hands and as a result look almost superior. The photographer skillfully combines the weapon fetish (which, however, does not come across as martial here!) with the beloved bondage.” Marquis No. 38
“This one seems pretty straightforward: if you think nekkid girls with guns are hot, you're probably gonna like this book. However, there's a bit more to this collection of photographs than just that. As suggested by the title, many of these girls are bound with ropes, sometimes suspended from the ceiling, sometimes simply bound and gagged, many times simply wearing the gorgeous Japanese bondage as if it were a high-end piece of fetish wear. The black-and-white photography is well-done, the expressions on the women's faces evoking something beyond the moment in time the camera has captured. This reviewer personally finds guns distasteful, and yet found this book one of the more erotic, tantalizing photo books she's seen in a long time.” Blowfish
