* MY PORTFOLIO HIGHLIGHT *
** #1 Viral Video for GoDaddy **
15+ Million views throughout YouTube!
Originally produced this short SATIRE for GoDaddy "as a personal challenge", after hearing about their huge video contest "at last minute" (with $600k in prizes, a $250k grand prize, eye said GAME ON!) with the deadline that Fall of 2010, just two weeks away.
Despite not even placing in the contest, my video WAS one of the top voted entree's and most importantly: I was proud of the work we accomplished in such a short time. I do admit, due to the rushed job and rough camera equipment I borrowed from a friend, my video probably didn't deserve 1st or 2nd place (6-figure cash rewards) which were aim'd to be air'd on TV, but I thought that with being on the top voted videos, I'd at least make it into the 5 honorable mentions that received $25k EACH...
Now all I can say is: there is some CRAZY poetic JUSTICE in becoming the brand's MOST successful YouTube video, after *finally* becoming 'viral' a couple years after I posted it. Having never spent a dollar, or any significant time for that matter, to promote something that was "a loser"... the most counter-intuitive change to the wording of the title... brought the type of redemption that I'm happy to say has been... priceless.

***INTRODUCING MY 1yr off...
****MAKING a few MOVIES in VEGAS HELL
*GoDaddy Files for IPO June 2014*
After having already filed their S1 with the SEC in the middle of 2014, to pursue an IPO (technically for the second time, as previously they gave up for a variety of issues), I was pleasantly surprised to randomly see an email from GoDaddy in October of 2014, inquiring about the possibility of 'acquiring' my video for a 'potential project'...
Ironically or not, GoDaddy ultimately blundered the whole deal/conversation/whatever you wanna call it... They immediately began the negotiations by treating all my hard (unpaid) work (or the thousand'$ eye spent to reach the finish line) without a single iota of respect.
Whether or not their 'confidential'.. 'but not yet finalized internal project' was a genuine context I should have believed... I think everyone can make their own judgement, as to their true intentions:
-1st by: "requiring I delete or de-list the video from YouTube (so they could use it like a 'fresh' campaign)"
-2nd by: after having already offered them the ability to USE the video FOR FREE, and that I was delisting it to help them out... [as my attempt at offering them a legitimate olive branch] But then they don't email me back for weeks! Not even a quick, "thanks! We'll be in touch soon"
So.... I had no choice but to relist the video and walk away from the negotiations... because if you want someone to give up their claim to success/respect that comes with the top project in their portfolio...
(not to mention the most successful marketing campaign for a multi-billion dollar corporation that INVESTS over a hundred million dollars a year, specifically to make world-class marketing campaigns...)
... YOU need to #RESPECT people's talent and hard work when they beat your millions of dollars wit simply caring more... to make art that matters!
***So what do they do a few months later?
Rather than GoDaddy risking a fraudulent copyright claim in requesting my video to be taken down, it ends up the entire 'copyright legality debate' (which we had in one intense two hour phone call) is side-stepped through YouTube deciding to use their own discretion to forcibly delete the video for it's "sexual nature" at the end of February 2015, after having already 'age restricted it' back in December when I started enabling ad-monetization for the first time (as negotiations were clearly over)... This then let's GoDaddy see what I might post/do in retaliation (as promised in our conversations), and they ultimately decide announce their official date to IPO just days before becoming April 1st's worst corporate joke...
Well, I warned them what'd happen if they tried to do anything behind my back with censoring my video... but I had no idea they'd be as foolish to straight up get it deleted and IPO immediately thereafter!
ALL THIS JUST DAYS/WEEKS AFTER the FCC ruling in FAVOR of #NetNeutrality...
is just the tipping point of what compelled my handful of short films on this 'story',
to turn me into MAD-MAX-MOVIE-MODE... resulting in what is now over 4hrs of fast paced (music video like) storytelling, spread out over a TRILOGY of topics: GoDaddy, Net Neutrality, and INSPIRING artists to pursue their OWN passion
