Currently creating "Gallery Portraits" which are large-scale stylized black and white gallery quality portraits. Large-scale includes 20 inches x 20 inches or larger. Gallery Portraits are also limited in print editions, usually of 10 or less.
The purpose of a “Gallery Portrait” differs completely from promotional photos. Its purpose is to convey an emotion, and not simply a representational image of the subject. This category of Portrait photography stresses a display of expression, personality, and mood. I use films, cameras, and studio lights. to produce a final product is a large silver emulsion print. This requires a blend of retro and modern digital techniques are used to achieve the highest quality, archival permanence, and a “retro” gallery silver gelatin print as large as 20” x 30”.
