2014 Skin and Ink Project
I am currently seeking male and female models/people with interesting, colorful, and dynamic body art for submission to national and international tattoo and ink magazines. Every tattoo has a story and this is a chance to tell yours. Photos will contain an editorial composition and perhaps a brief bio or introduction. You don't need to be in perfect shape but candidates should confident, comfortable in their own skin, and willing to work hard. You should have a BMI that is within the normal range for your height. A test shoot is preferred in order to build a good working/shooting relationship. Some shoots may be location based. Compensation is on commission, meaning you receive a percentage of everything I make from any accepted images, and also includes a tear sheet and selected image rights. I find this is a fair and equitable way of doing business and motivates those I shoot with to give their very best. Cause if I get paid, you get paid. If you are interested please message me so that I might add you to the list for future contact. Let's be perfectly clear. This is not guaranteed. Publication is dependent on what sells. Please take the time to review some of the popular tattoo magazines available for a better idea of what may be required from a shoot of this type.
Please read my entire Bio:
***I will be in Central Ohio working for the next few months***
My name is David, I am a 25 year veteran Portrait, Commercial, Glamor, and Editorial photographer based in Los Angeles, CA.
Photography is not just my trade, it defines me. It is the means by which I express the things that I am passionate about and how I make my living. I capture moments that will never come again. How humbling is that? I want emotion in the images we make. Joy, sadness, passion, anger, despair, sensuality, laughter, all these things define us as individuals. Modeling is one of the hardest jobs in the world. It's not just about looks. You must be able to express a concept, an idea, a belief, etc., with no dialog, no music, no script. To do this you must know yourself. Be comfortable with yourself. Believe in yourself.
I am also, a dog rescuer, a vegetarian, and an 8 year veteran of the United States Army. I am founder of the Veteran K9 Rescue Network, a non-profit organization that helps to save, train, and provide rescue dogs to assist US Military Veterans. I pay my rent with a camera and tramp the world with my dog "Shutter The Wonder Mutt" helping when and where I can, bringing to you the most beautiful images I know how... one photo at a time.
Models: I believe in being honest, and direct. I am not one to dole out meaningless platitudes in some cleaver attempt to win favor with you, or entice you to work with me. If I leave a comment on one of your photos it is because I see value, not worth, in what you are doing. Every photo I take is a moment in time that will never come again. What price can you really put on that? I prefer to work with young people typically 18-35 or so, as they still look at the world as I do (even though I am older than that) with new eyes. One last thing, if you say in your Bio how busy you are blah, blah, blah, but only check MM once every three months... you are not the kind of person I want to collaborate with. And yes I said COLLABORATE. Every great image is a collaboration between two people trying to create something special. Otherwise, it's just a picture.
"You will never be again the way you are right now."
My Photography has been featured by NASA (Space Shuttle Atlantis STS-129 Nov 2009) the United States Postal Service (Capitol Conveyor Oct 2010) the Department of the Navy (USS Enterprise July 2011) and the Los Angeles Times Photo Blog (Space Shuttle Endeavour Sept 2012) as well as many other various local news and organizations. Between November 2008 and February 2011, I shot over two hundred individual portraits and portfolio collections.
If you wish to collaborate on a project please send me a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
