About Me

It's an honor to be a part of the MM community.  I have an extensive background in education, social work and law, but I put that aside a few years ago to begin work, finally, as an artist.  Now, I do my activism and social commentary via my photography, puppetry and body art through magazine editorials, art installations, gallery exhibitions, print publications and video projects.  I do my art for creative and activist reasons: a percentage of the proceeds are donated to charities that support young people of color trying to further their education.  I also curate art exhibits as a way to raise monies for charities that support LGBT youth.  I'm not a prolific photographer, but when I do shoot, it is so that it can be published or exhibited somewhere for a specific reason.  I also take a lot of time to set up the shots (I work more like a sculptor and puppeteer.).  The process is just as important as the final product, so I spend a lot of time talking with, meeting with and hanging out with the models and subjects, so that a sense of who they are comes out in the actual work.  I believe the models and subjects have something to say and their voices should be heard, so my art is more of a collaborative process than my just directing you.  I'm hoping my joining the MM community will enable me to work with more aspiring artists and models.  Although I don't shoot that much, I am always looking for body art volunteers.  Contact me further if you have questions or if you are interested in working together.
