About Me

Growing up I was always involved in sports and very athletic. I was frequently viewed as the small, shy boy who was lacking confidence. This haunted me through my high school years & was also a very tough task to carry alongside my ice hockey career growing up. Considering there was a handful of guys I was up against who were bigger, stronger and had the overall size advantage. Knowing these were all aspects I wasn't able to change or take control of, I simply kept my head high, looked myself in the mirror & told myself to use the attributes I have and use them to the best of my abilities. I used my small figure to my advantage, speed and hard-work. One month before my 16th birthday I decided I needed to take myself to another level in order to continue playing ice hockey at a high level. I joined the gym and was assigned a workout program that I followed on a daily basis. I knew this was something that would be the difference maker. As the days, weeks and months passed, I saw immense change not only physically, but mentally as well. I went from being a 99 pound, 5’1”, 16 year old boy to an astonishing staggering 135 pounds, 5’6”, 17 year old, one year later. I was able to make the team on the highest level of ice hockey for my age group. Moving away from home, signing contracts and always worked out to my fullest potential, I knew that there was one aspect that stood out if you want to achieve anything within any endeavour that life has to offer. It’s called, hard-work. I fell in love with working out, eating healthy and living a positive lifestyle. I was born on July 22nd, 1994. I am currently 19 years old, 5’9” and was able to reach 170 pounds this past month. I currently reside in Montreal, Quebec, Canada where I am pursuing my fitness, modelling and entrepreneur career. Although I was playing competitive ice hockey at a high level and was excelling within my studies, one path lead to the other and next thing I knew I was doing my 1st photo-shoot, creating personalized workout/nutrition programs and investing into projects to create a brand, now known as, “JHFitness - Joey Hornyak Fitness”. I enjoy simply living life to the fullest, enjoying time with family and friends, traveling, cooking, shopping. I am a human like any other person alive, but I try to do everything, but in a healthier, more positive fashion. You need to create a balanced life between work and hobbies in order to be successful and remain with a smile on your face. I will also be competing in a men’s physique competition this coming March. Looking back on the years and what I’ve been through, I couldn't be happier the way everything turned out. I’ve not only improved physically, but I’ve became a stronger, better version of myself. As the years keep going I plan to go to bed at night better and happier than when I wake up in the morning. My all-time goal is to pay it forward to people around the world. To begin living a healthier, positive & overall successful lifestyle. To demonstrate that anything you put your mind to is attainable. Like any other successful person or aspect in life I needed to sacrifice in order to receive. I was on a mission. I stayed disciplined, committed, but most importantly I was consistent throughout these 3+ years. If you want something in life, anything, you will attain & achieve everything and anything you put your mind to. You need to want it as bad as you imagine it. NO I didn't use drugs, NO special pills, NO shortcuts to lower my mindset that my hard-work isn't enough to achieve what I want. There is NO secret. It’s creating a mindset that differentiates you from the normal herd of people. You need to have the mentality of a champion. Every time I wake up in the morning to brush my teeth, I take a look at myself and I take a moment to realize the opportunity I have to simply be able to wake up healthy. Time is the only thing we have no power over of and that’s simply another reason why try to make the best out of each day. I enter the gym doors with a goal to improve my character blocks of who I am. To sharpen and perfect tools of confidence, self-discipline, focus so that I’m therefore capable to carry these alongside my journey of life and use them to my advantage once I face adversity or difficult times in life. I’ve failed and succeeded. If I were to recommend certain aspects to stay physically fit, positive and successful within your endeavour to anyone, is to simply stay consistent, patient and prepare yourself in advance in an organized method. Back everything up with hard-work and always remain in belief that you will succeed. Even if you fail 1,000 times. Success will always be right around the corner if you never give up. Hopefully I can motivate and inspire as many people to embark on an improved journey, pay it forward to people in your surroundings and most of all join #TeamHornyak because together everyone achieves more! You have nothing to lose, but the time of each days. Make the best of them. - Joey Hornyak
