INNOVATIVE! CUTTING EDGE! DARING! RACY! EYE-CATCHING! SENSUAL! NOUVEAU CLASSIC! These are just a few of the words that describe the work of Victor Hou! His collections are executed with mostly clean, minimalist lines, devoid of a lot of fussy details. He makes a bold statement with his choice of spandex fabrics, vibrant colors, whimsical trims, and form-fitting cuts. Whether it's his trendy urbanwear, better sportswear, alluring couture, or his must-have swimwear, there's something to satisfy a myriad of different tastes! But, Victor Hou is not for everyone! It's for the individual that doesn't mind turning heads! The people that love getting compliments every time they step out! The persons that are confident, and know what plateau they're trying to reach! The ones that don't have a problem expressing their individuality! If you fall into any of these categories, then Victor Hou is definitely your go-to designer! Welcome to Victor Hou's world , where style is a way of life !
In the fashion business for over 30 years, Victor Colvin sold his first collection in West 57, an upscale boutique nestled in DC's prestigious Georgetown Park Mall, while fresh out of high school. His career got a major boost when he was selected over 30 other designers to appear in, the now defunct, Ebony Man Magazine. He went on to become the recipient of a couple of design awards, which include the Best Sportswear Designer of the Year 1982 (Joyce Mills & Associates), and the Couture Award for Outstanding Young Designers 1983-84 (Deb Tech Consulting Service).
In recent years, he has done freelance designing, manufacturing, & consulting for over 40 urban lines in the Washington Metropolitan area, such as Mchunu, All Daz, Shooters, and Madness, just to name a few. Under the moniker of VMAC, he and his former partner launched their own line in 2001. It included playful, trendy urbanwear, vivacious couture, and racy, eye-catching swimwear.
After splitting from his partner in 2004, Victor debuted his Victor Hou Collection for DC Fashion Week II in 2005. He has been featured in many publications including, Black Mens Magazine SSX (Swimsuit Extra), DaBook, Black Hair Sophisticates, and DC North. He has also appeared on several cable TV shows in DC, MD, NJ, and NY. Celebrities such as Kima (of the Bad Boy group, Total), Allen Iverson, and Jaheim have all adorned themselves with Victor's pieces.
With his unparalleled expertise in the fashion industry, Victor is guaranteed to be around for years to come. Keep an eye out for Victor Hou Designs! Please feel free to contact us for custom designs or private label manufacturing , as well as fashion shows and photo shoots. Thanks for visiting !
