I'm Daniel Mariano, Illustrator and painter for Blackbird Press. I double up as a freelance photographer and writer for different publications but i'm currently looking to expand my art portfolio. I have worked and continue to work with Suicide Girls on various illustrations/paintings as well as local models (both professional and up and coming) that either have a look that i'm currently looking to paint or pose that calls for a photo shoot.
I am still an aspiring artist so I can't compensate models for photo shoots or using them as a reference. However, most of my work is used and placed on flyers, clothing, stickers, buttons and I even have one of my illustrations (Life By Chance) being used for an Author's book cover design. Another way of compensation that I've used in the past is allowing the models that are used for an actual photo shoot to keep and use there photos for their own accord. I understand that some upcoming models can't afford a photographer so this is a way to balance things out on both ends. (i.e. Both portfolios get built)
*Even tough I work with Suicide Girls, I don't do nude photo shoots. They have their own contracted photographers that they use and I am not one of them and I'm not trying to be one. Semi-nude as in underwear and or bathing suits is as minimal as i'll go.
