MY PHILOSOPHY:

First off, I am a very direct 32 year old individual as I feel it is important to say it as it is rather than sugar coating things. Reality over Fiction. As a photographer I like to shoot just about anything. From weddings to Corporate to obviously sexy commercial glamour and everything in between. I shoot it all. If you are going to be a true professional you need to be able to shoot EVERYTHING. My style is extremely edgy and i love to push the sexy thermometer to the limit . However, I keep it clean and above all very tasteful.
As for models, to me it's all about Facial Expressions. I would say 90% of models have zero skill in this department. your shape and body type is secondary. The essence of any type of modeling is about conveying emotions, seducing, attracting an audience which means diversifying your expressions. We could shoot 300 shots but if your facial expression is always the same, now that obviously won't be getting us anywhere.
The bottom line is, if you suck at this, then do you honestly think you are a true model? Trust me, it is hard to be able to be an actor or actress while modeling, because essentially that's what you need to be, good actors! Modeling needs to be seen by you as a performance. This is the drive that will set you apart from the other wannabee models.
Until you do not master this art form , then keep practicing in front of a mirror and when your ready to perform, give me a shout!
FACT: Just because you have done a couple shoots before that doesn't make you a model if you don't understand any of what has been mentioned above.

MODELING INDUSTRY WORKFLOW AND PAYMENTS:

Some of you 'models' don't understand at all how the modeling industry works so here is a recap of the structure and workflow:
PORTFOLIO: This is what sells you as a model, if your portfolio contains web cam photos and amature work. DO NOT DARE seek paid work. No one will offer unless they are one of those improvised photographers who uses it to hook up with females (Guys With Cams). In the following example D&G will be referred to as the CLIENT.
STRUCTURE: Client (D&G) solicits the modeling Agency (ELITE) to work on their spring fashion campaign. D&G has a budget of 50 000$ . They will hire 3 models. 1 photographer,hair stylists, stylists and makeup artists. Another part of this budget goes on materials and equipment needed to do the project and shoot.
PAYMENTS: NOW THIS IS HOW IT REALLY WORKS so get your facts straight before asking me stupid shit!
Paying models: It is a misconception that photographers pay models. They do not! The client (D&G) hires the photographer, the model and the whole team. It is the AGENCY that pay the models, the photographers, and everyone involved after the AGENCY is paid by the CLIENT (D&G)
Everyone gets paid according to the contract.
There is a sickening trend of GWD (Girls With Dillusions) who think they can seek paid projects when they are nobody's without experience and proper proof such as tearsheets showing they were part of important modeling projects.
FACT: Photography is a service like any other services, therefore it is NORMAL for a photographer to charge for his time, skill and vision. Just like your hairdresser would charge you at the salon... Hiring a pro photographer is important as the outcome is to help focus on the initial aspect of the workflow mentioned above. -
