About us
Nigerian born designer, Blessing Sule Mohammed first came to Britain in 1998, aspiring to work in the fashion industry. Her journey began at the University for the Creative Arts where she started to experiment and develop her personal style. Miss Mohammed firmly believes that form should follow function. The beauty of her clothes lies in their clever construction and interesting shapes rather than decoration for decorations sake.
September 2007 saw Blessing set up her business, selling clothes in Stockport market. This time gave her the opportunity to gain feedback from people and to evolve and develop her style to a more sophisticated level. During this period The Junk Shop in Manchester expressed a desire to stock her clothes, to further open up her customer base. On top of her own brand, Blessing wanted to gain experience working within the fashion industry, so began a placement at Zuzu Couture. This fashion forward shop was run by Fatz Kassim, from Project Catwalk 2007. Upon recognising Blessings talent and commitment, Fatz employed her as a design assistant.
The confidence gained from her time at Zuzu Couture meant that Blessing felt ready to commit to her business full time and September 2008 saw the launch party of her very own shop on Castle Street in Edgeley, Stockport. The premises has it own studio upstairs and all of the Blessing Sule brand clothing is handmade on site. The shop also stocks other independent designers’ garments in order to appeal to a wider range of styles. There is also a small menswear collection, jewellery, accessories, bags and lingerie in store.
Because Blessing does not follow the traditional fashion calendar, it means that new capsule collections are constantly updating the shop floor. There is also a made to measure service available to ensure the perfect fit for all shapes and sizes.
Hopefully 2009 will see the business continue to grow with the opening of an online boutique to reach customers even further a field. The Blessing Sule brand though, will always stand for flattering, fashionable well constructed garments that are suitable for strong, independent, women. Past customers have commented on the way that Blessing’s clothes give them an extra boost of confidence.
