I believe the defining function of the artist is to cherish consciousness through which the artist becomes an instrument where the universe reveals itself. In my work, I look to transcend time to illuminate the complex thread of mankind. Exploring the opposing elements and the idea of beauty and light, I believe one must embrace the dark truths that are as much a part of our lives as the innate pull towards hope. Light and dark, order and chaos, the cerebral and the instinctive – each requires the other in order for harmony to ebb and flow.
I am in mindful search for a space where opportunity may begin to accept chance and accident to surrender, if only for a moment, the loss of control for freedom to emerge. There is a sense of movement of captive emotion in my work that is not any identifiable place, but rather a point of reference where I look to address timeless, personal issues in a contemporary world. In short, my work is a happy mixture of dream and reality, fantasy and nostalgia, contradiction and irony, as I delight in documenting the nature of humanity around me.
