To simplify my about me and not to sound so long winded, I decided to post most of my thoughts and hints on my blog. A good read for both models and photogs.

Hello Mayhemnites, THANKS first of all to all those that have come by and left comments and the new friends' requests. Its always great talking to and meeting new people.
Hello. I'm Leighton DaCosta, a fashion and wedding photographer, currently on international travel. I have been student of photography since the mid-ninety's. I am grateful to have been able to enjoy my passion of fashion and editorial work for almost a decade. My aim is to help you achieve the best work that we can do!
I stress style and quality. What matters is, if in the end, do you like the style, and is it a good image that will either get you looked, booked, signed, or sold.
Just like most on MM, the preference are assignments with a budget.
Test Shoots. There IS a difference between Trade Shoots/Time For Print and Test shooting. While I may invite a model/stylist/artist on a test shoot, most test shoots require a budget of some sort.
Trade Shoots: I am very busy, but I am always willing to work with new talent and help other photographers. If you wish to work TF with me, I ask that you have a concept, a great work ethic, and the following list.
-know the difference between a Reuben and a Rachel
-can climb a tree
-can swim, or fake swimming...just don't drown
-open to shooting nude
-open to shooting with bugs
-open to shooting when it's really cold
-can make a great cup of coffee...
-have a sense of humor...
The one thing though, that will turn me off from doing a TF shoot with someone is when I look at their page and they state that they ONLY work for pay, but then ask for a trade shoot.... You give what you get and you get what you give.
This article from NewModels.com says a lot on why YOU as a model should look to invest what you can in your portfolio.
You will get out of it what you put into it. Also have a focus of what you want to do. If you are trying to get signed by a top house, remember that some of the BEST photos on MM, which are truly world class, may not be the ones that get you signed, but they may be the ones that get you paid. Understand the difference.
I am always available for help. Would love to meet Clients, Colleagues, and friends.
