Having been a figurative painter and portrait artist for the past several years, I'm currently interesting in exploring the expressive possibilities of implementing elements of surrealistic figurativisim in my art. I believe art is most powerful when a strong message is paired with a high level of competence in one's chosen medium, and that's exactly what I'm trying to explore. I paint in oils and work typically from photographic reference. Although heavily influenced by a classical art upbringing, I'm interested in combining more contemporary subject matter with my traditional techniques to create a stronger voice in my work.
