About me
I specialize in fine art photography, with the male figure as my primary subject. I photograph narratively, creating series of images that tell a story. Much of my photography is based on classical/Renaissance/mythological imagery. Past projects include Episodes in the Life of Hercules, illustrating the Tarot Cards, and currently I'm working on a "Human Commodities" series (see my avatar as an example). I use non-traditional models to broaden the definition of who is and can be a model, and to question and challenge traditional notions of who and what can be a successful model.

Experienced and first-time models are welcome. I work in a very traditional manner, shooting large-format film and printing with "alternative" processes. Working with me is a very different experience than with most photographers you may shoot with today because the style of work I do and the method in which I work is slower, thoughtful, and, frankly, challenging. If you're up for having a fun shoot, producing some beautiful images, and getting a good workout to boot, contact me.

Please Note: I am a professional, I treat all my models with professionalism and courtesy. I expect the same in return. If you cannot make a scheduled appointment, call 24 hours in advance to cancel. Short of major personal emergency, you KNOW if you can make it or not 24 hours in advance. If you have a problem with this simple requirement, don't book time with me.

Credits
I've been published internationally. My work has been exhibited in juried exhibitions throughout the US, and I have gallery representation in the UK and Singapore. I am currently preparing for my MFA degree.

Thank you for the list!!!

I actually shot that myself. In my room!!! It was late at night, I couldn't sleep. I had a white wall. And it was a plain digital camera.

I did 10 automatic multi-shots and started dancing in front of the camera. Ha! Until I found something interesting-looking. And that was my favorite--the one you listed. Tee hee!

Thanks again :)

Yes, I should think about 8x10. There's probably alot of equipment floating around at very reasonable prices. I just worry about the continued availability of my favorite BW films (even in the smaller sizes), papers and chemicals. For now, I'm just making enlarged negatives of my medium format and 4x5 negatives, but that's a pain.

You have some beautiful images. It's great to see that there are other photographers who are still shooting with large format film. I don't think there's another film (or digital process) that gives lusher skin tones than Polaroid Type 55.

Hi, Scott: A photo of me has just won an important photography award in Paris; see my profile essay for details! Also, I’ve got an altogether new “strobist” photography album plus a few new images on page 1 of my port. I hope you’ll take a look at all this! Have a great weekend. Cheers, Peter

Look what I’ve been up to while on vacation (!):

http://www.modelmayhem.com/pics.php?id=662828

When I eventually post a picture in my own port from this session, I think I’ll use it to express my feelings about feminism and, in the caption, quote Sally Miller Gearhart (co-founder of the Women’s Studies Department at San Francisco State University): “The proportion of men must be reduced to and maintained at approximately 10 percent of the human race.” (And to think that it’s considered bad manners in our country for a man to disagree with this perspective!)

I hope all’s well with you,

Peter

Thanks for stopping by, Scott. The pleasure was all mine, and I look forward to seeing what I look like as “100% aged prime beef” (complete with price tag!). I’ve been telling everyone about your magnificent circa 1910 large format Kodak camera. The snapshot I took of you standing next to it is on a roll of film I dropped off for developing yesterday, so hopefully I’ll have a fun image to send to you too. Cheers, Peter
