Looking to shoot at my brand new studio. I'm finally resuming my typical rhythm of shooting, so I'm looking to book one or two trade shoots per week.
I have a new project in progress. One of my rare anonymous projects, this concept is open to men and women of all shapes and sizes. Shoots will be extraordinarily brief. Some less-nude or non-nude concepts available. Inquire within.
I believe that anyone who says that there is no originality is covering for their own lack of it, is afraid to think, or makes a practice of theft.
I am very experimental, but lately my creative energies are pretty focused on getting the studio up and running. If you're looking for off the wall, come back in a few months.
I primarily shoot artistic nude. I've completed more than one hundred art nude shoots in the last three years, and published over one thousand polished fine art nude images. This is my specialty. I can shoot other styles, and some styles I can shoot particularly well. But I don't generally care to. If I have not specifically contacted you for a fashion shoot or other clothed project, I probably want you to do nudes. If you contact me for a shoot out of the blue because you "like my style" I will assume it's a nude shoot unless you say otherwise. There are some exceptions to this--I shoot promotional work, and will trade portfolio material for a nude shoot with some models instead of normal TFP or TFCD.
I work outdoors often, in all climates and ecosystems. If you have problems with cold weather, please tell me that rather than agreeing to a snow shoot. Same goes for hot weather, long periods of sunlight, hiking, climbing, phobias, etc. If you're uncomfortable with a concept we can do something else!
I have a number of new projects in development--I spend a lot of time researching, storyboarding, and in some cases developing technique before actually shooting. I like to think my projects have depth. This is not to say I won't go with a model's idea for a shoot, or that I never think of something on the fly--but just because I want to do something doesn't mean I have to crank it out tomorrow.
I generally prefer models in little or no makeup, except in conceptual projects which require it. People are beautiful as designed. When there is makeup or body paint, I usually design and/or apply it myself.
I do not pay models up front for art shoots. My photography sessions are TFCD, with (usually 50%) profit sharing of print sales from gallery shows and online sales. I will NOT pay you hourly. I have nothing against models who are hourly-paid-only, but please, if this is you, don't contact me asking for money.
I started my relationship with the camera on the models' side, and I continue to occasionally model for photographers and pencil artists. My models' comfort is therefore a very high priority for me. There are no ultimatums or requirements in my shoots, aside from nudity (I only shoot nude models...)--if you're ever uncomfortable with an idea, pose, etc, we don't have to shoot it. If it's super important to me I'll do it with someone else. I'd rather change a shoot and save the working relationship than drive someone off just to get the frame I'm looking for... and I believe that a shot will never be as good if the model's not interested in making it good.

12/4 - Introduction to Fine Art Nude Photography Workshop by Richard Rasner (aka
Unique Nudes). Topics covered include tips on casting and recruiting nude models, release forms and legal information, posing, and lighting. Focus on legal, ethical business practices for the art nude photographer. Includes guided practice with professional models. $150
