FASHION DESIGNER CLINT WEBSTER OF CLINTONCHARLIE

A love of drawing at an early age led Clint Webster to establish the label 88ounces in late 2002.

The urban/street wear label started off with limited edition screen printed t-shirts and jackets, singlets, hats and cuffs, which were sold at local markets and boutiques in Sydney, a surf shop in trendy Byron Bay and a shop in St Kilda, Victoria.  In September 2004, Clint submitted a leather outfit for a Youth Fashion Design showcase and was placed fourth out of 150 entrants. The showcase cemented his new-found interest in designing women's fashion and prompted him to complete a series of fashion design courses at East Sydney College.

Clint started designing edgy women's clothing and decided to experiment more with different leathers and fabrics and created a new high-fashion label, ClintonCharlie, to accommodate his change in style.

His first range under the ClintonCharlie label was showcased at the Sydney Northern Beaches Fashion Show, "f.rock05", in mid-September 2005, gathering a lot of interest from the VIP guests, Industry representatives, the public and the local media who attended.

Following this, Clint started working part-time for Sydney celebrity designer, Jason Chetcuti, whose past clients include Jessica Simpson and Natalie Portman. Together they designed couture dresses and denim outfits for the Chetcuti label, allowing Clint to practice sewing and customising techniques and use these skills to create pieces of his own.

A year of sample making, customising and tailoring led Clint into the competitive women's denim market, where he now boasts his "BootyHuggers®" jeans as being the signature items of the ClintonCharlie label, with the first batch at the end of 2006 selling out in less than three weeks.

Successfully creating a more shapely look to a woman's derrire, these jeans ensure a tight and snug fit, with no sagging or exposing of underwear when she sits down. They come in different cuts and washes and have become the new favourite jean of many women, including several very high profile super stars.

Interest in ClintonCharlie of late has come from Australian fashion magazines, local media and Clint's most recent trip to New York has seen him secure an agent for the US market. His current project with Sydney model, Silvia Grenova, is also gaining interest, as together they are working on a high-fashion art movie for the attention of David Letterman.

Clint's influences are Karl Lagerfield and Roberto Cavalli, which is evident through the Chanel-like dresses of his current range and the snake-skin patterned leather vests with possum fur trim.

ClintonCharlie has been working very closely with Manly 's Shore Club to develop new uniforms for the staff working at this trendy establishment.  Situated at South Steyne on the Manly beachfront, the Shore Club was the winner of the Best New Hotel at the 7th Annual Australian Bar Awards in September 2007 and winner of Bar of the Year at the Australian Hotel Association's Awards for Excellence also in 2007.
